Kure Yakusha (呉 夜叉, Kure Yakusha; "Yakusha Kure") is a recurring character from Dumbbell Nan-Kilo Moteru?. She is the homeroom teacher of Class-A at Koyo Girl's Academy and a semi-regular member of Silverman Gym.

Appearance

Yakusha is a beautiful woman with long black hair and a generally serene expression. She is slightly more muscular than most of the other women, but not to extent of vigorous bodybuilders like Utsunomiya. She usually keeps her eyes squinted, fully opening them reveals her clan's trademark darkened eyes.

Personality

Yakusha is generally quite cordial and polite, but is sensitive to remarks and quips about her age, revealing her more menacing side when they occur. This side also reveals itself when anyone asks about her personal life, likely due to all the trouble that would occur if people knew she was trained as an assassin and that she works as one on the side.

She doesn't take well to being humiliated, as she strangled Jason after he accidentally humiliated her when she sat on his lap. She likes teasing others, like calling Rumika and Satomi the badonkadonk duo after they ripped their skirts. She has strong bonds with her family, as she would rather spend time with them than her friends. She is bad at reassuring people. When she attempted to tell Hibiki she would protect her, she scared her instead.

She is shown to be perfectly ok with Karura marrying Ohma, stating kids need to leave the nest sometime. The fact she married a man who is twelve years older than her is probably one reason she is okay with their getting together despite the age difference.

Plot

Yakusha first appears introducing Gina to class A. She and Rumika go to Silverman Gym to return Satomi's gym card and end up joining the gym.

Physical Abilities

Kure-sensei has been noted by Machio to have the physical conditioning of an athlete and has shown that she is physically superior to her peers, much to the shock of the teachers and students of Silverman Gym. She has also been shown to be good at mountain climbing. She can bench 100KG (which is almost twice her weight and 220 pounds). Her impressive physical abilities likely come from her clan's incredible genetics. Yakusha was also very interested in fighting Utsunomiya Koharu, who is an extremely powerful person in her own right, hinting at the great physical power she keeps under wraps.

Etymology

• Kure means "give, do something for" (呉).
• Yakusha means "female demon" (夜叉).
  • Her name, "Yakusha" (夜叉 (やくしゃ) ) is referential to the Hindu/Buddhist/Jain religious demonic beings known as Yakshini (the female counterpart to Yaksha). Yakshini are described as "celestially beautiful" and while mainly benevolent in nature are certainly malevolent in action for their own amusement or desire. This fits perfectly with her role as a matron teacher and as an assassin from the "demonic" Kure Clan as well as her characteristic joy in teasing any and all around her (to frightening effect).

  • She is shown using the Removal skill on Jason Sgatham after he embarrasses her in the gym.
• Yakusha is married to Hanjuro, a hitman (who is 12 years older than her), and has two children: Karla and Sarla.
